Museum Africa Launches 3D Virtual Exhibition to Mark Africa Month

The City of Johannesburg presents a unique African 3D virtual exhibition to embrace Africa Month.

The exhibition will bring life and perspective into Museum Africa’s collection that represents not only the community of Johannesburg but the African community.

The exhibition will capture themes within the African landscape on different LED panels; Geomorphology; Archaeology; Ancient technologies & scientific inventions; Genesis of African Leaderships; Migration & Interconnectedness and Totemism and be interpreted through animation and videography.

The exhibition will not only respond to the municipality’s “Smart City” strategy but will also be a testament to museum collection that cannot only be viewed behind exhibition display cases or kept behind storages. In this way, more audiences outside the City of Johannesburg are envisaged.

The launch will also be inclusive of a mini dialogue that will have a keynote speaker and panelists addressing the Pan African thought on geo-scientific advancements and their political impact.

Museum Africa has taken the opportunity to use its collection to provoke progressive dialogue among heritage practitioners, the community and academia.
