The call is open to apply for Hong Kong PhD Fellowship 2023. Selected applicants will get an opportunity to complete their degrees from Top Ranked Universities in Hong Kong. No IELTS test requirement if the previous degree is in English. Applicants having Bachelor/Undergraduate degrees in any Academic field can apply for HKPFS Scholarship directly and Master’s applicants are also eligible. This is a Direct PhD degree. Hong Kong Government will cover all the expenses related to Tuition Fees with Research Grant.

Financial Coverage
- The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2022 provides an annual stipend of HK$325,200 (approximately US$41,690)
- Conference and a research-related travel allowance of HK$13,600 (approximately US$1,740) per year for each awardee for a period up to three years.
- 300 Fellowships will be awarded in the 2022 academic year.
- For awardees who need more than three years to complete the Ph.D. degree, additional support may be provided by the chosen universities. For details, please contact the universities concerned directly.

Shortlisted applications, subject to their areas of study, will be reviewed by one of the following two Selection Panels comprising experts in the relevant board areas:

You are eligible to apply for the Fellowship if you apply for another PhD program as a new full-time PhD student.
I have difficulties obtaining transcripts/ certificates/ test results by the application deadline of the university I selected. Am I still eligible?
We encourage students with excellent academic performance and good potential in research work to apply for the HKPFS. Universities may give conditional offers to candidates who demonstrate outstanding ability and potential in their areas of study.
How To Apply?
An initial application is the first step in making an application under the HKPFS. The initial application must be submitted through the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme Electronic System.
The system will assign an HKPFS Reference Number which an applicant needs to quote in their application for admission to their selected universities.
The RGC does not charge any application fee for the HKPFS. However, universities may charge application or other processing fees.
The result of the HKPFS 2023/24 will be announced by May 2023.
