Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance and former World bank director of operations, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has become the first African and female Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

EU and ECOWAS endorsed her candidacy. The U.S has opposed her victory.
